- Who is the Fifteenth Dame Lisbet Throckmorton?
The name Dame Lisbet was inspired by the artwork. Dame Lisbet looks humble and creased with care, yet something regal clings to her -- a glint in her eye and a tattered sparkle of past arrogance. She is "The Fifteenth Dame Lisbet Throckmorton." As to whether she inherited this position (explaining her arrogance) or married it (the glint in her eye) is left to our imagination. - Is there a theme for the contest – does it need to be set in or around a coffee house?
Although a coffee house is an excellent setting for a fictional interlude, there is no required theme or setting for the contest. Judges are seeking fiction that is disarming and original, and this is the only requirement. The rest is up to you. - Do I need to copyright my work before submission?
You do not need to register your copyright before you submit. All entrants retain creative rights to their work. If we later propose to include your work in an anthology, we will proceed with your permission and agreement.
